Meet Lindsay Durand, SPT, JWHPT Digital Committee Member
Introducing the people behind #JWHPT. Meet Lindsay Durand, Lindsay Durand, SPT, JWHPT Digital Committee Member of the Journal of Women’s Health Physical Therapy (Based in Florissant, MO)
WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND?
My background is in exercise science and as a certified personal trainer. I am now a second (almost 3rd!) year physical therapy student at Washington University in St. Louis. I am hoping to pursue a Women’s Health Residency after graduation and specialize in women’s/pelvic health as a physical therapist.
WHY DO YOU CHOOSE TO VOLUNTEER WITH JWHPT?
As a student, I wanted to get involved in the Academy (Section of Women’s Health at the time), but I also wanted to learn more about the current research in Women’s Health. Since a lot of programs have limited information on women’s health and how to treat patients with pelvic floor dysfunction, I saw this as a great way to expand my knowledge on the research, get to know professionals in the field, and grow in my love for Women’s Health.
HOW ARE YOU ADAPTING DURING THIS GLOBAL HEALTH CRISIS?
I am viewing this pandemic and quarantine as an opportunity to slow down and focus on other aspects of my life. With all classes remote, I find myself reading a lot more, meditating, cooking more, eating healthier, and getting better sleep. I still make a schedule every day to help me stay on track, but I’m taking it one week at a time and focusing on the end goal, becoming a well-rounded, physical therapist.
