Volunteer Opportunities

With busy lives, finding time to volunteer can be a challenge. However, the benefits of volunteering are immense—for both you and your professional community! Volunteering provides opportunities to network, build friendships, and develop new skills.

All volunteer positions are open to active APTA Pelvic Health members. Be sure to review each listing for specific qualifications and requirements.

  1. A call for volunteers to fill a vacancy will be open for approximately 30 days at www.aptapelvichealth.org/volunteer.
  2. The Volunteer Committee carefully reviews and scores all applications to assess eligibility and suitability for the position. In some cases, an additional committee may participate in the vetting process. While uncommon, certain positions may require an interview as part of the selection process.
  3. Once evaluations are complete, the Volunteer Committee submits a final recommendation to the elected Executive Committee of the Board of Directors for review.
  4. The Executive Committee reviews the recommendation, conducts further vetting to ensure the applicant aligns with the position’s expectations, and verifies there are no current code of conduct concerns. The decision is finalized through a vote in accordance with the Academy bylaws.

Upon successful appointment:

  1. The volunteer receives an official appointment letter from the Academy containing details about their position and is introduced to the respective chair or key contacts. This letter includes a General Orientation Video and shared resources for the volunteer to review on-demand.
  2. The volunteer schedules an orientation session with the Executive Director via Zoom link provided by the Executive Director. During this session, access is granted to necessary platforms and resources, which may include a digital folder, past meeting minutes, agenda templates, and other helpful volunteer resources.
  3. The volunteer meets with their assigned Committee/SIG/Chair at their next scheduled meeting. The respective committee/SIG/task force/Chair provide additional onboarding resources specific to the role. These may include relevant files, deliverables, newly assigned tasks, and details about upcoming meetings, including dates and times.
