Volunteer Leadership
Academy leadership is distributed among the national volunteer board of directors, paid staff, volunteer committees, sub-committees, task forces, and other groups, making leadership management an important operational function that supports the strategic plan of the Academy.
Year-round, the Volunteer Committee promotes a call for volunteers to collect applications, vet candidates, and recommend the top candidates to the Executive Committee (officers within the Board of Directors) for formal appointment. The Executive Committee is in charge of volunteer appointment approval. The Board of Directors is responsible for establishing and retiring committees and task forces except in the cases of the elected Nominating Committee, House Delegates, and Special Interest Groups which are all elected by the general membership or respective membership sub-group(s).
