There is a lack of evidence in the literature that describes and supports a rehabilitation strategy in more chronic cases of diastasis recti in postpartum women who are recreational athletes. This gap in literature is what inspired the research of Rita Deering DPT, PhD and her team.
Deering describes the clinical applicability of her study, stating that “These results provide rationale for treating increased inter-recti distance, including diastasis recti abdominis, in recreational runners up to two years postpartum.”
