PT in the Community: Make an Impact During CSM Week in Houston

In collaboration with the Texas Physical Therapy Association and local partnerships, PT in the Community is offering opportunities for PTs, PTAs, and SPTs to support underserved communities in Houston during CSM week. Volunteer Schedule

Naloxone Administration Training

  • We will be providing Naloxone administration trainings and emergency doses of naloxone
    • WhenThursday through Saturday, in the Expo Hall during unopposed hours
    • Times: 10:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. & 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
    • Location: Texas Physical Therapy Association Booth in the Convention Center

Wednesday, February 12th

  • 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Health & Falls Screening Event (Followed by an Older Adult Fitness Class)
    • We will be looking for volunteers to help run the screening event, teach within the fitness class, and someone to speak on what to do after a fall during their luncheon.
    • Location: Evelyn Rubenstein JCC Houston

Thursday, February 13th

  • 11:15 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Serving Lunch at Men's & Women's Shelter
  • Time TBD. Assembling Care Packages
    •  These packages are to support kids in CPS custody, people experiencing homelessness, and women experiencing domestic violence. 
    • Location: TBD

Friday, February 14th

  • 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. Putting Together Sack Lunches
    • Building PB&J sandwiches during the Population Health SIG meeting
    • Location: TBD
  • 11:15 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Serving Lunch at Men's & Women's Shelter

Saturday, February 15th

  • 8:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Day of Dancer Health with Dance Source Houston.
    • A functional screening event for dancers
    • Location: MATCH Houston Gallery Space 
  • 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Houston Parks and Rec, hosting a Health & Falls Screening event for seniors, a DME check and adaptive fitness class, AND fitness activities for kids with disabilities.
    • We will be looking for volunteers to help run the screening event, work with those living with functional disabilities, and volunteers for the kids' activities.
    • Location: Metropolitan Multi-Service Center at West Gray

  • 11:15 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Serving Lunch at Men's & Women's Shelter
  • 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Fitness event with Bel-Inizio
