Meet JWPHPT’s new Associate Editor, Jennifer Bagwell PT, PhD, DPT

The JWHPT Editorial Team is thrilled to welcome Jennifer Bagwell PT, PhD, DPT, as our new Associate Editor. Jenny is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at California State University Long Beach. She received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Duke University and her PhD in Biokinesiology from the University of Southern California. Her long-term research objective is to improve maternal quality of life and reduce orthopedic pathology. Her research utilizes biomechanical and clinical tools to investigate potentially modifiable factors, such as muscle function and joint demand, as related to orthopedic conditions during and after pregnancy to inform prevention and intervention strategies. She is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association Academies of Pelvic Health, Physical Therapy Research, and Orthopedic Physical Therapy, and of the Biomechanics Special Interest Group. She is grateful to be involved in a profession that changes lives for the better and to have the opportunity to educate bright, enthusiastic, and caring physical therapy students. Outside of work, Jenny enjoys spending time with her husband and their two children who bring joy to every day.

When asked how she feels about joining the JWHPT Editorial Team, Jenny responded:

“I am honored to have the opportunity to join the team of editors at JWHPT. I am passionate about contributing to the scientific review process and about advancing women’s health practice and research, so to be offered the opportunity to serve the journal in this capacity is exciting. JWHPT has many outstanding new initiatives and great positive momentum and I look forward to contributing to its ongoing success.”
