Would you like to know more about how to advocate for 4th trimester care? Join us as Gina Cunningham, DPT, Board Certified Women’s Health Clinical Specialist (Board-Certified Women's Health Clinical Specialist) discusses her passion on 4th trimester care and how she took action with local State representatives to bring awareness for the needs of this special population.

Gina will be discussing 4th trimester needs of postpartum care. In addition, she will be discussing a 4th trimester resolution she developed in the State of Pennsylvania and the process of speaking with legislators and getting the resolution to the floor.

About the Presenter

Gina Cunningham, PT, DPT, Board-Certified Women’s Health Clinical Specialist 

Gina obtained her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. She has obtained the Certificate of Achievement in Pelvic PT (CAPP-Pelvic) through the Academy of Health PT. She also holds a certification in Fascial Movement Taping Level 1. Gina is an active member of the Academy of Pelvic Health PT and is the Academy’s Pennsylvania State Representative. She is also a member of the Philadelphia Regional Pelvic PT Alliance. Gina has been awarded the Vincent M. Imperatrice Award for 2020 from the Pennsylvania Physical Therapy Association Private Practice Special Interest Group. Recognized for Gina’s efforts and advocating for “4th Trimester Care Awareness Day” the state legislatures. Gina received her undergraduate degree from Saint Joseph’s University with the Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Health Services and a minor in Bio-ethics. She went to pursue her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Thomas Jefferson University. Gina has taken numerous courses through the Institute of Physical Art to develop her manual skills. Since the beginning of her career, Gina developed a special interest in the treatment of pelvic floor disorders. She began her continuing education training Herman Wallace Institute and through the Women’s Section of the APTA, and is now a board-certified specialist in women’s/public health PT. She also gained her Certificate of Achievement and Pelvic PT (CAPP-Pelvic) through the APTA by completing comprehensive education come training, and testing program for the management of both men and women with diagnoses of pelvic health dysfunction, such as urinary incontinence and pelvic pain. Gina treats orthopedic patients and patience with pelvic dysfunctions, including vulvodynia/vestibulitis, dyspareunia, interstitial cystitis, prolapse, urinary and fecal urgency and frequency, constipation, post-prostatectomy, prostatitis, pre/post natal and pregnancy conditions. Gina enjoys spending time with her daughter, son, husband, and to English bulldogs. She loves to vacation in Ocean City, NJ each year, read a good book, and practice yoga. She spends time educating the community specifically about pelvic floor health for all genders.
