Official Statement from the Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy

Academy News, Position Statements, Practice & Advocacy,

Dear Academy Members,

The Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy is deeply concerned by the actions of SCOTUS on Friday and the profound impact it will have on millions of women.

We support the rights of all humans to receive access to safe reproductive healthcare and will continue to support our members and the patients they serve. We are in alignment with ACOG, AUGS, AMA, WHO, AUA, NPWH, and numerous other organizations that have denounced the ruling.

This is a public health issue. Pelvic health decisions should be made between patients and their medical providers.

The APHPT Board of Directors had the foresight to create the Health Impact, Access, and Equity Task Force as we have been closely monitoring healthcare legislative trends over the last year. The SCOTUS ruling on Friday prompted us to expedite a call for volunteers as we felt the work of this task force could not wait any longer.

As an organization, we will work to improve healthcare access and outcomes and prevent associated comorbidities with the disparities that currently exist in our society.

Board of Directors
