In Memory of Donna J. Del Vecchio, PT, DPT, Board-Certified Women's Health Clinical Specialist

The Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy mourns the loss of one of its long-time members, Donna J. Del Vecchio, PT, DPT, Board-Certified Women's Health Clinical Specialist, who passed away suddenly at the age of 63 on August 12th. Donna's career and life were filled with dedication, compassion, and a pioneering spirit that shaped pelvic health services at Atlantic Health System (AHS) and inspired countless patients and professionals alike.

Donna’s journey in physical therapy began with a 2-year PTA degree from Union County College in 1982, followed by her PT degree from UMDNJ in 1991, and later, a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree in 2003 from the same institution. Throughout her career, Donna touched the lives of so many and was deeply loved by all who had the honor of knowing her.

Together with her colleague, Geri White, Donna was instrumental in advocating for the establishment of women's health and pelvic floor rehabilitation services at AHS. What began with a single woman at one site has grown into a robust program spanning eight sites, employing 27 therapists who continue to offer life-changing pelvic floor health services. Donna’s passion, vision, and determination have left an indelible mark on the field of pelvic health, and her legacy will continue to guide future practitioners.

In memory of Donna’s incredible contributions, her husband, Guy Del Vecchio, and her family have established the Donna J. Del Vecchio Memorial Scholarship at Union College of New Jersey. This scholarship honors Donna’s dedication to “paying it forward,” by providing financial support to PTA students, just as Donna once was. This scholarship also ensures that her memory, her caring spirit, and her love for the profession continue to inspire future generations.
