APTA Pelvic Health Maryland State Rep Hosts MD's First In-Person Meetup!

The Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy's Maryland State Representative, Laura Scheufele, and Secretary, Kelly Huestis, recently hosted the first Maryland Pelvic Health in-person meetup. Attendees enjoyed pizza, networking, and brain stimulation. We were fortunate to have the esteemed gynecologist Dr. Golsa Yazdy who spoke on "Common Vulvovaginal Conditions." Dr. Golsa Yazdy is an assistant professor in the Johns Hopkins Medicine Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics. Her areas of clinical interest include sexual health, vulvar skin conditions, and vaginitis. Dr. Yazdy empowers each patient to participate in their obstetrics and gynecology care through compassion and education. She is dedicated to providing the best possible care to women across the lifespan. 

Attendees reviewed vulvar anatomy and embryology, discussed hormonal etiologies of vulvovaginal concerns and their treatments, reviewed the presentation and management of common vulvar skin conditions, discussed causes of vulvovaginal pain and vulvodynia, and reviewed common causes of vaginitis.
