Through awareness efforts and education, the Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy reaches thousands of patients, physical therapy professionals, general physicians and the general public. The revenue generated from our advertising, affiliate and sponsorship partnerships help fund our education, research and operation programs so that we can provide advancement opportunities to our professional society of Physical Therapists (PTs), Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) and Student Physical Therapists (SPTs).

Who We Are

The Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy (APTA Pelvic Health) is a not-for-profit, 501 (c) (6) professional association offering continuing education and top-quality training to PTs, PTAs and SPTs and connects physical therapy practitioners, educators and private practice owners in order to develop, share, and advance leading practices. For over forty years, the association has offered a collective, timely view on evolving themes shaping the pelvic health and physical therapy industry. Members provide the latest evidence-based pelvic and abdominal physical therapy services to men, women, transgender, pediatric and elderly populations. APTA Pelvic Health is a component of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

Our Mission

Our mission is to advance global excellence in abdominal and pelvic health through evidence-based practice, innovative education, research and social responsibility. Our goal is to help physical therapists (PT), physical therapist assistants (PTA), physical therapy students (SPT) and private practice owners meet the changing needs of their patients and our industry by aligning and educating industry participants through:

  • Formal education programs that provide evidence and collaborative insights from diverse industry experts
  • Interactive forums that allow members to exchange ideas and solutions
  • Networking opportunities that connect PT, PTA and SPT members from all segments of the physical therapy industry.

We seek to provide student, early-career and seasoned professionals the tools to gain industry knowledge and skills to promote personalized care in abdominal and pelvic health physical therapy to the patient population through evidence-based best practice and research.

Pelvic Floor health is so important. Knowledge of a good product is key. We’d like to think that our products are helping APTA Pelvic Health, when in fact APTA Pelvic Health is helping our products obtain more exposure during its courses. Our product line’s main focus is on Pelvic Floor Health. Although, it is still very “taboo” to have a healthy vagina. It is so needed from child bearing years to a women’s golden years. The Pelvic Floor is a muscle that needs to be worked out regularly. The INTIMINA Women’s Wellness line is slowly gaining notoriety in this world of “full body wellness”, being sold at Whole Foods and CVS, and we continue to grow. Female Demographic

We were founded by women 40+ years ago and are predominantly composed of women who treat women, men, transgender, the elderly and children. A large percentage of members began to pursue pelvic health physical therapy due to their own personal experiences with pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum pelvic floor conditions.


Early-Career PTs and PTAs

These are the next generation of professionals and decision-makers who are starting out in the profession at existing rehabilitation clinics or starting their own private practices. They are avid learners who are digitally savvy, attend conferences and travel to courses


Employed in Private Practice

Almost 1/2 of our members own a practice or work in a private practice setting. These members are either key decision makers or decision influencers when it comes to purchasing new equipment, changing suppliers or recommending products to their patients.Β

The Academy has a combination of rising and seasoned professionals who are either entering the workforce or are already in the workforce which make up the majority of its membership.
