In this SSIG-hosted webinar, learn more about how physical therapists and physical therapists assistants can work in both pelvic health and oncology PT. Learn more about various oncologic conditions, lymphedema, and how it relates to pelvic and women’s health from from Dr. Alex Hill, a dual board-certified women’s health and oncology physical therapist. This will be an open discussion with a short presentation to begin. Please come with questions and ready to learn!

Alex Hill, PT, DPT, Board-Certified Specialist in Women’s Health and Oncology

Alexandra Hill graduated from Kent State University with a B.S. in Chemistry, going on to earn her Doctor of Physical Therapy at the University of Florida and complete the Women’s Health Physical Therapy Residency at Duke University Health System. She is presently a physical therapist with Anne Arundel Medical Center, specializing in pelvic health, lymphedema, and oncology rehabilitation for all genders. Alexandra is a dual Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Women’s Health and Oncologic Physical Therapy and a Lymphology Association of North America (LANA) Certified Lymphedema Therapist.

In addition to her clinical work, she is an APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor for students, has several peer-reviewed research publications on pelvic health and oncology-related concerns, and has experience speaking at the regional, state, and national levels. Alexandra is an active and proud APTA member; she previously served as the Director of Financial Development for APTA Academy of Pelvic Health and is currently co-chair of the APTA Academy of Pelvic Health Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) Committee. Alexandra is active on social media and her blog to provide inclusive and empowering education on pelvic health, oncology, and lymphedema through her brand OncoPelvic PT. She was awarded the APTA Academy of Pelvic Health Emerging Leader Award and is currently serving as the APTA Academy of Oncologic Physical Therapy 2021 Centennial Scholar.

SSIG
Student Special Interest Group

Special Interest Group (SIG) is a sub-community within the Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy with a shared interest in advancing a specific area of knowledge or learning where members can connect, collaborate and help develop solutions within their particular topic area or produce new educational resources and networking opportunities. The Academy currently has 3 established SIGs. Each SIG consists of Board of Directors who each meet virtually year-round to facilitate discussions, problem-solve and develop new resources to members.

The SSIG provides a forum to connect physical therapy students from across the nation on issues and topics relevant to you as a student or an rising early-professional. Need advice on applying to a residency program or need tips on how to pay off your student loans? The SSIG is here to help guide you and direct you to helpful resources!
