About 

The Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access Committee (IDEA) shall assist the Board by keeping the Board informed of best practices as they relate to IDEA in in APTA Pelvic Health activities and events, including but not limited to education, research, and conferences; and serve as a resource to the Board for APTA Pelvic Health messaging related to IDEA on social media and the APTA Pelvic Health website. The IDEA Committee is composed of 5 members at present and we are seeking to recruit 2 additional members.

Responsibilities

  • Recommend benchmarks for diversity in APTA Pelvic Health members, speakers, consultants, subsidized products (eg JWHPT), and vendors
  • Assist the Board in developing public-facing statements related to IDEA
  • Make recommendations for the APTA Pelvic Health’s educational leadership team to evaluate existing CAPP curriculum for diverse, inclusive, and culturally sensitive content and information.
  • Identify and recommend to the Board opportunities for financial aid to underrepresented minorities.
  • Evaluate, on an annual basis, the extent to which APTA Pelvic Health has met strategic objectives and benchmarks related to IDEA
  • Increase public awareness and facilitate pelvic health resources in marginalized communities via various communication mediums.

Meetings

The IDEA Committee will meet at least once a year with further meetings to occur when deemed necessary or desirable by the Committee or its Chair. The Committee shall report its actions and recommendations to the Board on an annual basis regarding any proposed changes to this Charter or the Governance Guidelines.
