APTA Pelvic Health Appoints Angela Pappas as Volunteer Coordinator and Karen Weeks as Membership Committee Chair

We’re excited to announce our newest appointments:

  • Membership Committee Chair (Aug 2020-2023): Karen S. Weeks, PT, MPT, CLT | Board-Certified Women’s Health Clinical Specialist
    • Karen served as the Midwest Regional Representative for the Academy of Pelvic Health, following service as State Representative for Illinois. Karen has been a proud member of the Academy since 1998. She has also served on the Nominating Committee, serving as Chair in 2014. Karen’s clinical practice is within the Integrated Pelvic Health Program at Northwestern Medicine, a trans-disciplinary clinic with Physical Therapy, Urogynecology, Urology and Colo-Rectal Surgery, located in Chicago, Illinois.
  • Volunteer Coordinator (Aug 2020-2023): Angela Pappas, PT, DPT | Board-Certified Women’s Health Clinical Specialist
    • Angela completed her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Saint Louis University. She received her Doctor of Physical Therapy at the Doisy College of Health Science, Saint Louis University in 2016. Angela received her Certification in Achievement Pelvic Physical Therapy (CAPP-Pelvic) and received her ABPTS Board Certification as a Clinical Specialist in Women’s Health Physical Therapy. She has focused on women’s health and pelvic floor dysfunction since graduation. She is a member of the Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy and Chicagoland Pelvic Floor Consortium and is an active board member for the Worldwide Fistula Fund. Her clinical interests include perinatal musculoskeletal disorders, pelvic floor disorders, bowel / bladder dysfunctions, pelvic organ prolapse, incontinence, pelvic and abdominal pain, and sexual dysfunction. The Academy is grateful for the leadership of Ashley Watts, PT, DPT, CLT | | Board-Certified Women’s Health Clinical Specialist (outgoing Membership Committee Chair) and Lauren Trosch, PT, DPT, Board-Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (outgoing Volunteer Coordinator) for their service and dedication to the Academy. In the last 3 years, membership has grown 15%, the Academy’s social media presence has increased in the industry and the Academy has widely expanded its volunteer talent pool. The Academy has revamped its Volunteer Application process which has allowed us to better connect Academy members with unique talents and expertise with suitable volunteer positions requiring specific skills/experience. Lauren Trosch has initiated and led the growth of the Academy’s Journal Club webinars which have connected practitioners around the globe during the pandemic. Ashley has bridged connections between the state and regional representatives and increased membership engagement and collaboration through Social Link and Regional Facebook Groups. Thank you to both Ashley Watts and Lauren Trosch for their generous efforts and great contributions to the growth of the Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy!
