Live Webinar | May 14, 2020 | The Use of Running Gait-Retraining in the Management of Chronic Stress Urinary Incontinence in the Postpartum Population

Join the Academy’s Pregnancy & Postpartum Special Interest Group (PPSIG) at 8:00 PM Eastern Standard Time on Thursday, May 14, 2020 for their quarterly PPSIG webinar on “The Use of Running Gait-Retraining in the Management of Chronic Stress Urinary Incontinence in the Postpartum Population.”

This presentation will provide an evidence update on running gait retraining and the relevant biomechanics of the lower extremity and the pelvic floor. We will discuss some of the challenges of managing stress urinary incontinence in the postpartum female who want to return to running and the use of running gait retraining for those who have not been able to return to impact activity with the standard of care alone.

Michael Roberto PT, DPT

Michael Roberto PT, DPT received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Drexel University in 2013 and completed an orthopaedic residency program at Drexel University in 2014. He went on to complete his Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist Certification in 2015. His clinical expertise is in treatment of the hip, knee, and foot/ankle for the orthopedic and sports populations.

He serves as the coordinator for the lower extremity in Good Shepherd Penn Partners orthopaedic physical therapy residency program in Philadelphia, PA. Michael is also a Team Leader for lower extremity orthopaedics at Good Shepherd Penn Partners flag ship office in Philadelphia. His research interests include lumbar muscle function as it relates to low back pain recovery and running gait retraining in the management of running prohibitive injuries.

Michael Steimling PT, DPT

Michael Steimling PT, DPT is an Assistant Professor in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA and is the primary clinical faculty for the musculoskeletal tract. He received his Bachelors of Science from the University of Pittsburgh with a major in Exercise Science, and his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Drexel University.

Michael Steimling specializes in sports and orthopaedic rehabilitation, he is an ABPTS board-certified clinical specialist in orthopaedics since 2015, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists since his completion of the Fellowship in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy from Regis University in 2018. His research interests include: the effects of manual therapy; regional interdependence of the Lumbo-pelvic-hip complex; and the use of running gait retraining in the management of running related and prohibitive injuries.
